My Hometown Surabaya


Surabaya is my hometown, it's a capital city of East Java,Indonesia.
There are lot of interesting places here.
On the way entering the heart of the city from Juanda International Airport you can find a zoo and at the heart of the city you can find a government office building and city hall which are built in Dutch colonial age.
Further,here are some interesting places in Surabaya

Submarine Monument: An historical tourist attraction in the bank of Kalimas is worth to visit to expose the history of KRI Pasopati with side number 410. Visitors can enter and explore the 76m length , 6,3m width and 1,048kgs weight submarine. This monument is at Pemuda street and easily accessible
Four faces Budha Statue : Its height is 9m and total building height from down to top is 36m. Most Budha,Kong Hu Chu and Tao believers pray at this statue. Its location is at Sukolilo street which is in New Kenjeran beach area.
Heroes Monument : It is located at Pahlawan street. It was originally the idea of the first presiden of the Republic Indonesia ,Ir.Soekarno, to build the Heroes Monument to memoryze the legendary 1o November '45 war in Surabaya. In this monument , we can enjoy not only the historical diorama about the heroism of Indonesia people but also the Chinesse expedition road map to Ujung Galuh and collections of variously old weapons used by Surabaya warriors during 10 November'45 war. Because of this war that's why Surabaya is also called Heroes City.
House of Sampoerna : If you want to see the process of making cigarete you can come visit House of Sampoerna. This is a museum also cafe and art gallery. The museum offers a truly unique experience for visitors. From the story of the founding family to close watching a real hand-roll production facility and ending up with an unforgetable experience of roling a stick of cigarete yourself. This museum is located at Taman Sampoerna street which is near Jembatan Merah area. Jembatan Merah is one of our history place.
Ampel Mosque : It is located at Arabic corner. It was built in 1421. If you visit here you can see many Arab people with their culture and culiner. Visitors will feel like they are in Middle East. Around the mosque there is a market that sell many products of muslim and some are imported from middle east.
Kalimas Port : Here visitors can find the courage of ancient sailors.Once one reaches Kalimas POrt,the typical nuance will look very traditional. There are always arrays of traditional,strong,unique and wooden sailing boats from Makassar and other Eastern parts of Indoensia (phinisi) regularly anchored to load and unload cargoes.Sometimes we still can see carts running and dragged by buffaloes to transport carsoes to warehouses. The port is 2,270m length and was firstly established in 1875 and has been commercially managed since 1910.
Ciputra Waterpark : Presenting Sinbad Theme, Ciputra Waterpark becomes the biggest waterpark all over Indonesiawith 100 types of watergames. The typical Middle East atmosphere makes every visitor wonder the ultimate attractive 1001-night adventure.
G-Walk : Located in west Surabaya . In this place visitors can find many food stalls among the street and they have terrace cafe. You can spend time with friends or family here enjoy the various foods.This place is more beautiful at night with many lights view.
Shopping Mall : There are many shopping malls in Surabaya that you can visit. The most popular is Tunjungan Plaza located at Basuki Rahmad street the heart of the city and near it also we have Surabaya Plaza located at Pemuda street that also near submarine monument.Other hopping malls are Supermall,PTC , Galaxi Mall,Royal Plaza, City of Tomorrow and still more.
So guys if you have time , try to visit Surabaya :-) I'll be waiting....
